Court sets aside restriction on Marwari Panchayat polls

SHILLONG: The court of Additional District Judge has set aside an earlier injunction of Assistant District Judge which had restrained the Shree Marwari Panchayat, Shillong, from conducting the elections of its executive committee.
In the order on Friday, the court of Additional District Judge ) said that the “impugned and ad-interim order passed by court of Assistant district Judge on December 23 last cannot be legally sustained and as such it is set aside”.
After objections were raised on holding elections to Shree Marwari Panchayat, the Panchayat had filed an appeal before the Additional District judge against the December 23 injunction order of the court of Assistant district Judge.
