21 children rescued from Guwahati Railway station

Guwahati: Twenty-one children , all boys 21 aged between 3 to 14 years who hail from various remote areas of Assam and Tripura were rescued from Guwahati Railway Station here on Wednesday from the clutches of an alleged human trafficking gang.
The rescue was made by the CID branch personnel of Assam Police with help of Child Line. Child Line personnel said they had received a tip-off regarding the children and had reached the railway station, along with CID sleuths, and prevented the children from being taken away.
Two persons claiming to be guardians of the children are being examined by the CID to ascertain the truth The guardians claimed that they were taking the children, on consent of their parents, to an ashram in Himachal Pradesh, where the children will be provided with free education, lodging and food.
However, there were loopholes in the version and no bonafide documents have so far been provided by them, Child Line authorities said.They claimed that they had taken 13 children earlier, who are getting
all promised benefits.
The rescued children hail from parts of Hailakandi district in southern Assam and adjoining areas of Tripura. Further investigation is on.
