NONGPOH: Angered by the frequent atrocities against the Khasi people at the disputed areas along the inter-state border of Assam and Meghalaya, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), North Khasi Hills district unit, on Tuesday announced its second phase of agitation by calling night road blockade on March 2 and 3 in Ri-Bhoi district.
Announcing this, the KSU unit president F Kharkamni said, the night road blockade, effective from 7pm to 5am, is called in protest against the non-committal attitude of the MUA-II government in resolving the border dispute with Assam.
He also appealed to the general public to avoid any confrontation or unwanted incidents during the road blockade period.
The KSU president informed that the government was yet to take any action against the Assam forest personnel who were found guilty as per inquiry conducted by the state police for demands fifty per cent of the productions of brooms from the residents of Umsder village.
