Headman, 5 others arrested

JOWAI: West Jaintia Hills Police have arrested the headman of Lumkya and 5 others including the Chairman and VDP members for their allegedly involvement in ransacking the Forest Check Point of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) on Friday.
The arrested persons were Petrus Suting (headman), Teilang Rynjah, Mishna Dkhar, Tom Langshiang, Kalbari Mukhim and Loren Suting.
It may be mentioned that group of 15 to 20 people allegedly ransacked the Forest check point of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) located at Lumkya, Nartiang in West Jaintia Hills District. Several important documents including receipt books and cash of Rs. 50, 000 were found missing from the office, a JHADC official said.
