Purno raises attacks on minorities issue in Parl

New Delhi:  Former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno Agitok Sangma on Friday raised concern over a series of attacks on the minorities mainly Christians, their institutions recently  and forcible conversions and demanded a fresh assurance from the Prime Minister so that the communities can live without fear.
Participating in the motion of thanks on President’s  address, Sangma also dismissed the allegations of conversions by persons like Mother Teresa. The Noble laureate as messenger of peace and services did convert people to become better human beings within their own religion, he said.
“Being a person from the minority community, I must tell the Government that we are really worried,” Purno said referring to recent attacks on minorities and Churches including some in national capital itself.
Addressing the concerns, the  Prime Minister denounced communalism and said that nobody has right to discriminate on basis of religion.
“My government’s only religion is ‘India first’,” Narendra Modi said.
