Kohima:The Nagaland BJP on Friday expressed concern over the total breakdown of law and order in Dimapur following the alleged rape incident on March 4 last.
In a release here, Naga-land BJP General Secretary and Spokesperson K. James Vizo said the state govern-ment’s complacent attitude and complete failure of the district administration and police in dealing with the situation were seriously viewed. While condemning the rape incident, the party said it was unfortunate that the protestors took law in their own hands. The party is of the view that no one is above law and any criminal offence committed should be dealt with as per the law of land and one should not take law in its own hand.
The BJP appealed to all sections of the people to maintain peace and har-mony and stop spreading of rumors to avoid repercus-sions which would be more damaging . Meanwhile, the party also expressed con-cern over the massive infiltration of illegal Bangla-deshis into the NE and in particular to Nagaland.
In the release, BJP presi-dent  M.Chuba Ao stated that in 1992, when  P B Acharya, the present governor, was the North East BJP-Incharge, the state BJP had organized a dharna at Dimapur Railway Station demanding that the illegal Bangladeshi immi-grants be removed from the state. And again in 2004, the party submitted a memoran-dum through the then Kohima DC Zhaleo Rio demanding for a detention camp at Nagaland to deport the illegal Bangladeshi immi-grant but in both the cases the Nagaland government failed to do anything.
The Party suggested to the concerned authorities not to randomly issue PRC (permanent residence certificates), ILP (inner line permits) and Trade licenses etc without proper veri-fication.  (UNI)
