TURA: The people of Chokpot in South Garo Hills have expressed concern over the delay in the completion of the Daji Teksragri RCC Bridge which was sanctioned way back in 2004.
According to the villagers the contract for the construction of the bridge was allotted to one Bulbuline R Marak. The villagers alleged that due to negligence of the contractor the bridge has not neared completion even after 11 years since the work began.
The villagers demanded that the work order given to the contractor be cancelled by the PWD and a fresh tender is floated so as to enable the resumption of work on the bridge.
“We appeal to the PWD to float a fresh tender,” they said in a statement while threatening to launch an agitation if their demand is not met.
