Panchkula (Har): Accusing the BJP-led Haryana government of adopting “anti-farmer” stance by reducing compe-nsation for land acquisition by half, AAP leader Yogendra Yadav on Sunday said the party will not allow acquisition of even one acre of land under the new rules in the state and will take every step to protect the interest of farmers.
Yadav also announced that the party will intensify its ongoing ‘Jai Kisan Abhiyan’ campaign by taking it to village and block level in the state in the second phase.
“We hereby warn Haryana government that we will not allow acquisition of even one acre of land in the state under the new rules whereby compen-sation for land has been reduced by 50 per cent … We will not allow any discri-mination against farming community in the state,” Yadav said while speaking to reporters here.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP government in Haryana of issuing a notification on December 4 last year whereby compensation for land acquired from farmers has been reduced by 50 per cent. “We hoped that the state government would rollback this notification (reducing land acquisition compensation by 50 per cent).
But it had not done so,” he said. “This rule came during the BJP regime in December month last year not during previous Congress regime,” he said. Referring to land acquisition for bye-pass in Sirsa, Yadav alleged that though award for land acquired is yet to be announced, the solatium in this case has been calculated at 30 per cent as against the claims of Haryana government which has been saying that 100 per cent solatium is being given as part of land acquisition compensation. Accusing the Khattar-led government of lying to people about compensation for land acquisition, Yadav alleged that the state government had reduced compensation from four times of market rate to two times.
Regarding his ongoing ‘Jan Kisan Abhiyan’ campaign, Yadav said it will be taken to village and block level in the state in the second phase. “We will go into villages, block level and meet farmers whom land is being acquired and listen to their grievances,” he said, adding, he will be visiting Gurgaon from March 12 to 14 as part of the campaign.
