Seminar on Wah Umkhrah

SHILLONG: The North Eastern Service of All India Radio, Shillong in collaboration with the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council organized a seminar on “Umkhrah River Then and Now” (Ka Wah Umkhrah Mynnor Bad Mynta) at the Community Hall, Jaiaw Shyiap Lumpyllon here on Tuesday.
The seminar aimed to sensitise students from different schools located along the Umkhrah on the need to keep the river clean.
Speaking on the occasion, KHADC CEM, Adelbert Nongrum pointed out that much has been said about keeping the river clean and time was ripe now to jump into action.
He also appealed to the KHADC, Government departments, traditional bodies and public to restore the past glory of the river.
