SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister in charge Education, R.C. Laloo, on Wednesday said that regularization of the SSA school teachers will be taken up only if there was any such recommendation from the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD).
“We will regularize the services of the SSA school teachers only if there is a recommendation from the Union Ministry,” Laloo said while replying during the Question Hour on the third day of the Assembly budget session on Wednesday.
According to him, so far the state government had not made any plan to regularize the services of the SSA teachers.
Earlier, NPP legislator James K Sangma wanted to know if the state government intended to regularize the service of the teachers since the SSA scheme was nearly complete.
While replying to a supplementary question on why the teachers of some SSA schools in West Garo Hills were still getting Rs.6000 instead of Rs.7000 as salaries, Laloo said that as per the norms from the Ministry, the enrollment of students should be more than 100 to allow the teachers to get the increment.
“Majority of the schools in West Garo Hills did not achieve this target. It is for this reason that there was no increment in the salary of the teachers,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
