Tom Hanks helps Girl Scouts sell cookies
Hollywood star Tom Hanks surprised a group of Girl Scouts in the San Francisco Bay Area over the weekend, buying some cookies from them and then lending his star power to help them sell more. The 58-year-old Oscar-winner and Bay Area native purchased four boxes himself, donated an additional USD 20 and offered to have his photo taken with people who recognised him, so long as they bought cookies, too, reported CBS. Hanks was with his son Truman, and they were on their way to visit a Los Altos typewriter shop when the Girl Scouts had their star encounter. (PTI)
‘Frozen 2’ officially announced, cast rejoice
Disney has officially confirmed that a sequel to their highest-grossing animated film of all time, “Frozen (2013)”, is in development. “Frozen 2” was announced during the Mouse House’s annual shareholders meeting, reported Ace Showbiz. Kristen Bell who voices Anna and Josh Gad who voices Olaf the Snowman gleefully respond to the news. “Dreams really do come to!!! #FROZEN2 #itsofficial,” the former tweeted along with a picture of her smiling while lying on a bag of ice. ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ to release in 2017
Walt Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger said “Star Wars: Episode VIII”, written and directed by Rian Johnson, will be released on May 26, 2017. A stand-alone movie based on the Star Wars world that is due on December 16, 2016, and directed by Gareth Edwards, will be called “Rogue One”, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Iger made the announcement at Disney’s annual meeting of shareholders in San Francisco. Iger showed the attendees several trailers of upcoming Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar films, said that Disney will introduce on TV next year the first Latina in its Disney Princess line, and said he has high hopes for the live-action “Cinderella” opening on Friday. Madonna dated Tupac
Pop diva Madonna has revealed she dated rapper Tupac Shakur for a short time in 1994. The 56-year-old singer, who appeared on Howard Stern show, said she enjoyed a short-lived relationship with the late “Ghetto Gospel” rapper. “I was mad at (David) when I said the F-word a lot. I was in a weird mood that day. I was dating Tupac Shakur at the time and the thing is he got me all riled up about life in general. So when I went on the show I was feeling very gangsta,” she said. Madonna is currently single but counts directors Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie as her ex-husbands. (PTI)
Jaden Smith’s rep dismisses gay rumour
Will Smith’s son Jaden is not coming out as gay despite rumours about the same. A representative for the 16-year-old actor-rapper debunks the story that has been spreading on internet, saying “there’s no truth to any of it”, reported Ace Showbiz. MediaTakeOut started the “coming out” speculation, suggesting that the “After Earth” star made the confession through a tweet to rapper Tyler, the Creator which read, “@fucktyler I Think Im In Love With You, I Don’t Know I’m Still Figuring It Out But In The Meantime, Happy Birthday.” (PTI)
Rihanna feature documentary to be directed by Peter Berg
A documentary on Rihanna’s life and career journey will get a big screen treatment as filmmaker Peter Berg has been attached to direct. Both of them have previously worked on the 2012 film “Battleship”, reported Ace Showbiz. The theatrical documentary is described as an “unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life and how she’s ascended to become a global icon,”. Peter revealed he liked the idea of examining “a young artist at the top of her professional field” and that the documentary would be “much more a character study than a music film.” (PTI)
