‘Govt to rent Kolkata M’laya House commercial space soon’
General Administration Department (GAD) Minister H.D.R. Lyngdoh has informed that the tender for renting out the commercial space in the Meghalaya House at Kolkata would be initiated soon.
“The tender will be floated very soon,” Lyngdoh said during the Question Hour on Wednesday.Lyngdoh also informed that the space would be leased to single entities at Rs.1500 per square feet while for multiple parties the rent would be Rs.3000 per square feet. “Preference will be given to residents of Meghalaya during allotment of space at the commercial complex,” the GAD Minister assured the House.

Clearance awaited for 18 road projects under PMGSY in State
UDP legislator Brolding Nongsiej on Wednesday highlighted the non-preparation of the detailed project report for as many as 18 out of a total of 19 road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills districts.The only DPR prepared by the PWD was for the 3-km road project from Sawkwang to Pyndensawkwang, Nongsiej said during the Question Hour, and questioned why the DPRs for the other projects had not been prepared.In his reply, PWD Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar said the department had not prepared the DPRs since they had not got the go ahead from the Union Ministry of Rural Development.”The DPRs were not prepared since under the Phase II there were no sanction for metalling and blacktopping for the 18 road projects,” Dhar informed.There has been no sanction for metalling and blacktopping of roads in other districts apart from West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.”The metalling and blacktopping work will be taken up in the future phases,” Dhar added.

Speaker rejects notice on nun’s gang-rape in Bengal
Assembly Speaker AT Mondal on Wednesday rejected a Zero Hour Notice moved by NPP legislator James PK Sangma on the gang rape of a 71-year-old nun at her convent school in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Saturday last.”I am also deeply concerned about this incident. But since the matter does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Meghalaya government, I have decided to reject this Zero Hour Notice,” Mondal informed the House.
