SHILLONG The State Chief Secretary PBO Warjri  on Saturday  made a startling remark that when it is 10.43 am in the rest of the country it is already past midday in Meghalaya by virtue of longitudinal difference.  Warjri wondered how Meghalaya would ever progress if its people started work by midday everyday.
“I have been suggesting creation of a separate time zone for the region since the time I was with the North Eastern Council (NEC) but my suggestions fell on deaf ears.  We lose a lot of time by observing the same time line throughout the country,” Warjri observed.
Warjri said this while addressing the World Water Day function organized by the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) in collaboration with Meghalaya Water Foundation (MWF) and Meghalaya Water Resources Development Agency (MWRDA) in city.
