Workshop
The Bangalore Conservatory Music College will organise a music workshop in Shillong from March 25-28.
Cleaning drive
Shillong Roadside Hawkers’ Association will conduct a cleaning drive under Swachh Bharat Mission at Police Bazaar on March 28 from 8 am.
Cultural event
The women’s cell of Lady Keane College, Shillong will organize a cultural event as post celebration of International Women’s Day, on March 27 at 2 pm in the college.
Meeting
The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association West Khasi Hills District Unit will hold its general meeting on March 28 at Ri Khasi Free Morning School, Nongstoin at 11 am to discuss the problems faced by the UP school teachers.
Blood donation
The NSS Unit, NEHU, conducted a blood donation camp on March 21 from 9 am to 4 pm at NEHU Health Centre. 45 Students, teachers and staff donated blood in the camp. The programme was conducted in collaboration with Nazareth Hospital, MACS and Meghalaya State Blood Transfusion Council.
Conference
The 9th Biennial State Conference of Meghalaya MES Civilian Workers’ Union will be held on March 25 at 10 am on the premises of G.E. Shillong, Rilbong Point. Brig. P.S. Jaiswal, Chief Engineer, MES, Shillong, will attend as the chief guest.
Liquor seized
BSF troops deployed at Dalu, West Garo Hills, apprehended one Bangladeshi national while he was moving from India to Bangladesh and recovered 24 bottles of liquor from his possession. Besides, the troops seized 114.47 Cft wooden logs, 3281 bottles of liquor, two boats, 820 bottles of Phensedyl, 21  cattle and other contraband items, worth valued over Rs.12 lakh from smugglers.
Statement
Meghalaya Truck Owners’ Association has accused the state government of not taking any step to end the ban on coal mining in the state. It also expressed shock over the state government’s inability to frame the Mining Policy.
