SHILLONG: The service of two temporary warders of Shillong jail have been terminated for their reported unholy nexus with some jail inmates.
One of the two was accused of smuggling cell phone inside the jail. Another temporary warder was suspected to be the contact man of the two arrested persons. Police recovered Rs 50,000 from his possession, said a statement issued by the office of the Director General of Prisons.
Earlier this month, Police foiled an attempt of smuggling of cash into the Shillong jail meant for GNLA militants and picked up two sympathizers of the outfit and equal number of staff.
