JHADC budget tabled

JOWAI: The Executive Member (EM) in-charge of  financial affairs of  Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), Joinriwel Pyrtuh on Wednesday presented Rs. 79,71, 80, 000.00 budget estimate for 2015-16 period.
The JHADC has estimated receipts of Rs. 73.45 crore against the estimate expenditure of Rs. 79.71 crore showing a deficit of Rs. 6.26 crore.
In his budget speech, the EM in-charge Finance stated that the deficits in the budget estimate was due to updating of District Council Primary School teachers which escalated from Rs. 9.37 crore in the current financial year 2014-15 to Rs. 13.24 crore for the coming financial year 2015-16.
He further stated that the increase in the estimate expenditure for payment of pension and family pension, retired Council employees besides others factors including increments and dearness allowances of the Council staffs were major factors for enhancement of deficits. The first day of the budget session also witnessed the introduction of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Establishment of Elaka and Village as well as Election, Appointment, Powers, Functions and Jurisdiction of Dollois, Sirdar and Rangbah Shnong) Bill, 2015. The Bill was introduced by the Chief Executive Member (CEM), Thombor Shiwat.
