NONGSTOIN: A group of dacoits on Thursday night assaulted villagers of Mawkyllon in West Khasi Hills when their demand for money was not met with by the residents.
The dacoits numbering 12 entered the village, which is 12 KM from Riangdo, at around 7 PM and demanded money from several houses. When the villagers refused to pay, the dacoits started beating them up. Some villagers were also injured in the incident.
West Khasi Hills SP, S. Nongtnger said that he has sent a SWAT team to the village to look into the incident.
