Nongpoh shopping complex inaugurated

NONGPOH: After a long delay, the MUDA Shopping cum Parking Lot was finally inaugurated here on Monday.
Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, DD Lapang did the honours in presence of  Urban Affairs Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh.
The Shopping cum Parking Lot Nongpoh which has 300 stalls and a parking apartment was constructed at the stretch of 4960 Sq.M at an estimated cost of Rs. 19.57 cr under the Central scheme of Urban Development.
The said project was constructed by NBCC and subsequently the Urban Affairs department handed over the Shopping cum Parking Lot to the Nongpoh Town Committee for maintenance and functioning.
Speaking on the occasion, Lapang expressed lauded the efforts made by the Urban Affairs department to implement the scheme allotted for the purpose.
He further appealed to the selected few who were allotted stalls in the complex to avoid subletting of stalls to others.
The shopping complex was built to benefit shopkeepers affected by the four-laning project besides the unemployed youth of the district.
