SHILLONG: The next meeting of the Meghalaya Cabinet will discuss the direction of Meghalaya Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to re-examine the decision of the state government to impose Administrator’s Rule in the KHADC.
It was on March 18 that the state cabinet had recommended Administrator’s Rule in the KHADC, which had evoked criticism from the Opposition parties.
Following this, the All Regional Parties Alliance (ARPA) which claimed majority in the KHADC had met the Governor along with the supporting MDCs after a failed attempt by the Congress-led People’s Democratic Front (PDF) to capture power in the KHADC.
District Council Affairs Minister H.D.R. Lyngdoh told reporters on Monday that the cabinet will discuss the matter in its next meeting.
“The Chief Minister is out of Shillong. We will deliberate on the matter during the cabinet meeting,” Lyngdoh said.
The Governor had, last week, asked the state government to review the decision of the cabinet to impose Administrator’s Rule in KHADC and returned the file without giving nod to Administrator’s Rule.
The District Council Affairs Minister, however, refused to divulge the content of the note written to the government by the Governor, saying that he had not seen the file.
