Former TN minister arrested
Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister Agri S. S. Krishnamoorthy has been arrested in connection with the suicide of senior engineer S. Muthukumarasamy.As per reports, he was arrested by the Tamil Nadu Crime Branch-CID after several hours of questioning.DMK leader TKS Elangovan, however, called for a CBI probe into the matter, saying the CBCID has failed time and again to investigate many cases.”CBCID has failed time and again to investigate many cases. They might have arrested him but the real facts will only come out if CBI investigates the case,” said Elangovan.Muthukumarasamy had killed himself by jumping in front of a train. He was reportedly under pressure to hire drivers. (ANI)
3 labourers killed, 2 injured in landmine blast on LoC
Jammu: Three labourers were killed and two others injured in landmine explosion in Nowshera Sector along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.”At least three labourers were killed and two injured when they inadvertently stepped over a landmine this morning in Changar area of Nowshera Sector close to the LoC,” an official here said.He said the landmine accidentally got drifted to that area, which suddenly exploded.”Two of them also sustained injuries in the mishap,” he added.He said the deceased and injured were from Rai Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.Meanwhile , an Army official said it was a T-20 landmine and how it reached to that place is being investigated.The injured have been rushed to the nearby hospital. Two minors among 3 of family charred to death
Jammu: Three members of a family, including two minors, were charred to death when a fire broke out in a room in Digiana area on city outskirts of this winter capital.”A fire broke out late last night in a small room when a piece of cloth caught fire from a heater in Digiana area,” police here on Sunday said.They said a woman identified as Neelam Kumari, 24, wife of Kuldeep Pandey alongwith her daughters Meenakhi, 2 years and seven-month old Sonakshi were sleeping in the room when the fire broke out.”As there was no ventilation in the room, due to smoke, all of them died of suffocation,\\\” police added.The husband of the deceased lady was out of station, they added.A case has been registered and investigations started.
