First peace talk with NLFT ends without much progress
Agartala: The first meeting of tripartite peace talk of Tripura government and Centre with National Liberation Front of Tripura  militant has ended in smoke yesterday at Shillong.Top intelligence sources here today said senior level officers of Tripura government and the Union Home Ministry have attended the meeting but NLFT sent two junior cadres as representatives with their demands.As per the schedule, NLFT present Chief Biswamohan Debbarma was supposed to attend the meeting to initiate the peace talk but it was not fruitful in true sense, said intelligence officials.They however, pointed out the state government had made its point clear once again in the meeting that the state is not going to withdraw any case related to crime on women from the militants.Also the state government was agreed to the proposal of better rehabilitation package of MHA for surrendered extremists and extension of other economic benefits to them on mutual discussion at tripartite level, sources stated.However, the next discussion on peace talk is scheduled after election to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District  slated on May 3 . Ghy to check malls for CCTV breach
Guwahati: After Union minister Smriti Iriani alleged CCTV recording inside a changing room of a Goa store of a popular brand, administration in Assam main city Guwahati has taken a serious note of the matter.With shopping malls and brand-stores multiplying in the fast-growing city, dubbed the gateway to the North East, Kamrup (metro) deputy commission Angamuthu on Sunday said watch will be kept on all such stores.We will soon check all high-end and medium-range malls and stores to ensure that no objectionable CCTV recording is done in the name of security,” he said.The DC said the city police’s help will be sought in the regard.Squads comprising women police personnel and magistrates will be formed to search specific malls and stores in a phased manner soon.Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani had alleged yesterday that a CCTV was pointed towards the changing room of a FabIndia outlet in Goa, where the minister was shopping while on a private holiday.The local BJP MLA has filed an FIR in this regard and police action against employees of the outlet has been initiated. Political activities intensifies for ADC polls
Imphal:  Ruling Congress, BJP and other political parties have started preparing for the Autonomous District council elections scheduled to be held on May 30. Congress and BJP may field candidates in all 144 seats in six ADCs. The Naga people Front has also announced its decision to take part in the elections.The ADC elections will be held in five hill district of Manipur covering six ADCs under the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council Act, 1971 . Draft electoral roll have already been published for Chandel , Churachandpur , Sadar Hills , Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul districts.Formal notification for the ADC polls will be published on April 30. The last date for submission of nomination will be May 6.Voting will be done from 0700 to 1630 hours and the result will be announced on June 8 . (UNI)
