Prez to visit Mizoram on April 9, 10

About 750 houses damaged in Mizoram storm
Aizawl: About 750 houses were damaged by a pre-monsoon storm in Mizoram last week, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department officials today said.
Serchhip district is the worst hit as 270 houses were damaged followed by 107 houses collapsed in Mamit district in the storm on April 2 and 5. Other affected districts included Champai and Kolasib, they said.Besides, 25 fisdhing boats were swept away by a flood in the river Tlawng near Aizawl during the thunderstorm, they said. (PTI)
Two militants arrested in Manipur
Imphal:Two militants, including a woman cadre, have been arrested from separate districts in Manipur.A woman cadre of United National Liberation Front (UNLF) was arrested from Maharabi in Imphal West district last week and a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) cadre was arrested by a combined team of Thoubal police and Assam Rifles from Ngariyan hill on Monday last, a police official said.While the woman was identified as Oiman Rita (47), the PLA militant was identified as A Basanta Meitei (30). Nagaland CSU to take up ILP checking in Phek district
Kohima: The Chakhesang Students Union (CSU) has informed that it will be carrying out Inner Line Permit (ILP) verification drive from Thursday onwards in the towns of Phek district. In an official statement, Chakhesang Students Union president Seve R Vadeo and general secretary Ngapunyi Krocha have informed that the ILP checking will be taken up in Phek town, Pfutsero town; Chizami Town, Chozuba Town and Chetheba Town for which all ILP holders have been asked to get registered at the nearest town. The statement said all Inner Line Permit holders to bring two passport photograph and supporting documents of their Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) of their respective areas. The student body has also asked all the Inner Line Permit holders to cooperate with the union in checking the influx of illegal immigrants and requested the district administration and security force to support the process of checking influx of illegal immigrants.
