SHILLONG: After winning the award for the best movie for his first film “Aiti” at the 1st Khasi Film Award, ER production released its second movie “Sati” (Ring in English) here on Wednesday.
Directed by Edward Pakma, the movie was officially released by Shillong Press Club general secretary Powel Sohkhlet during a function held at the Shillong Press Club.
The movie is a love story starring well known actors like Rimi Shylla, Rudolf Mawlong and Goldenstar Suchiang in the lead roles. The film was produced at an estimated cost of Rs 5 lakh and will be screened at Bijou Cinema Hall from April 10 onwards.
Talking about the difficulties faced by the filmmakers in the State, Pakma said that filmmakers are unable to recover the cost of making the movie due to piracy.
“Piracy is a serious problem in our State. Many film production houses have stopped producing movies as most of them have not been able to recover the cost,” he said adding that people should understand that piracy is killing the Khasi film industry.
He emphasized on the need to create awareness on the illegal practice of piracy and urged people to refrain from buying pirated CDs in order to help promote the film industry in the state.
