SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal has said that the proposal submitted by the Shnat Raid Tynring village Dorbar to the State Government to acquire 1000 acres of land under the village is a ‘closed chapter’.
“At the moment, the State Government has put on hold any fresh acquisition of land for the New Shillong Township. Therefore, the proposal submitted by the village dorbar is a closed chapter,” Goyal said here on Monday.
When asked about the power of attorney allegedly given by a section of the members of the Executive Committee of the village dorbar to the treasurer of the committee, Marshall Nongrum to settle the deal, the Deputy Commissioner said that he does not have the details of the proposal submitted by the village dorbar.
Earlier, KHADC Executive Member in charge of Elaka, KP Pangngiang had said that the Executive Committee (EC) had decided to suspend the Sordar of Raid Tynring, CA Diengdoh following complaints that he had attempted to sell 1000 acres of community land to the MUDA without the consent of the village dorbar.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed that the members of the village dorbar had met him on Friday last questioning the decision of KHADC to suspend the Sordar without giving him the opportunity to explain his stand.
“I have written to the State Government about the grievances raised by the villagers,” he said.
