JOWAI: The Meghalaya Indigenous People’s Rights and Livelihood (MIPRL) has demanded removal of National Green Tribunal from Meghalaya. The demand was made during a public meeting at Shangpung Pohshnong on Tuesday.
MIPRL legal adviser, Erwin K Syiem Sutnga said that the rights body will soon meet the Meghalaya Governor to register their demand with the Centre.
“There is a provision in sub-section (3) of Section 4 of the NGT Act which clearly states that the Centre shall have the power to notify the NGT jurisdiction,” Sutnga said.
