NEHU thefts
NEHU premises is yet again in the news for a spurt in theft cases. As per police data, on April 5 at around 7 pm, unknown miscreants stole one laptop, one induction heater and one cell phone belonging to Chandana Rabha from House No. BH-II/50, NEHU, Bamboo Hut. Earlier on March 24, unknown miscreants stole one computer set and accessories belonging to Prof. D.K Choubey, Head of Department, Hindi, NEHU from NEHU, Shillong. Police had recovered electronic goods stolen from NEHU campus.
Theft
On April 14 at around 5.30 am, unknown miscreants stole one Maruti Swift Dezire (ML-05J-8862) belonging to Raj Das from Police Bazar, Shillong.
On April 11 at around 6.30 pm, unknown miscreants stole one Motorcycle (ML-05G-6831) belonging to Perry Wahlang from MUDA building, Police Bazar, Shillong.
Body recovered
On April 13 at around 9.30 pm, Police recovered one unidentified male body from the road side at Keating Road, Shillong. Cadaver was shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong for PM examination.
NGT ban violation
On the evening of April 12, Police detected and seized coal laden trucks AS-01-CC-8459) driven by Sumbol Lyngdoh Kynshi and ML-05H-3558 driven by Shongdor Swer at Mawkynthie, Sohiong (EKH) transporting coal without valid documents in violation of NGT order. Police arrested the drivers.
On April 9 at around 10.30 pm, Police detected and seized two coal laden trucks AS-01CC-2136 driven by Ajit Sarma and ML-05J-9779 driven by Sanjay Sinha at Mawngap (EKH) while transporting coal without valid documents in violation of NGT order. Police arrested the drivers.
Accident
On April 12 at around 10.40 pm, one scooter (ML-05E-6589) ridden by Charming Dohling (19) dashed against a Truck (ML-06-4502) at Nongmynsong, Langkyrding, Shillong. The scooter rider sustained injuries and was removed to CH Shillong.
On April 11 at around 3.30 pm, one Maruti car (Number not known) knocked down one minor boy Lurshai Marbaniang (10 yrs) at Mawngap (EKH). The victim sustained injuries and was removed to Civil Hospital Shillong.
One dead
On April 14 at around 12.15 am, one ambulance (AS-11AC-9988) dashed against a stationary trailer truck (NL-01G-1795) at Mawryngkneng By-Pass (EKH). As a result the ambulance driver Ranjit Kumar Sinha (40) sustained injuries and one occupant Farikuddin Laskar died on the spot.
