Guwahati: The Army and the police operating jointly under the Unified Command structure against the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songibjit) militant on Tuesday apprehended of five hardcore members of the terror outfit including one involved in massacre of the Adivasi villagers.
An Army spokesman here informed that the terrorists were apprehended during a joint operation conducted in a thick jungles of Ripu Reserve Forest in Kokrajhar district of Assam in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The apprehended terrorists have been identified as Dilip Basumatary alias B Dawkhaw (lieutenant and platoon commander of Rangapara Platoon), Ananto Swargairy alias Agar (corporal and section commander of Bishwanath Chairali platoon), Philip Narzary alias N Puthaisala alias Fighter (lance corporal),
Phukon Goyari and Sanjoka Brahma alias B Saogari.
Two pistols (factory made), four hand grenades, nine live rounds of ammunition and other war like stores were recovered during the operation.
Ananto Swargairy, Philip Narzary and Sanjokha Brahma were trained in Myanmar trained terrorists and actively involved in extortion, kidnapping and killing of innocent people.
Ananto Swargairy was involved in the massacre of Adivasis on of 23 December, 20 14 in Sonitpur district.
The operation was launched on specific information provided by Gajraj Intelligence (Military Intelligence Unit).
Based on the input, ambushes were laid in Ripu Reserve Forest of Kokrajhar district.
During the operation, the terrorists tried to escape but were apprehended after a successful chase by Army.
On April 18 last, Army had apprehended a member of the NDFB-S, Sona, platoon commander of Chirang Platoon of the 16th battalion of the NDFB (S) and his interrogation had provided vital links and clues about other terrorists of the outfit.
The Union government in the wake of December 23-24 , 2014 massacre of Adivasi villagers in Assam’s Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts had issued instruction to the Army engaged in counter-insurgency operation in Assam to either flush out or eliminate all the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songibjit) militants operating in the state.
The government had also ruled out the possibility of holding any dialogue or any form of negotiation with the NDFB-S outfit unless it gives up arms.
