Nagaland squad seizes opium worth Rs 10 lakh

Kohima: The mobile squad of Excise personnel has arrested one person at Patkai college bridge and seized opium worth over Rs 10 lakh from his vehicle.
Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition Ghokiho Yeptho in a statement said the accused identified as Zadimo Resu was arrested under Section 8 of NDPS Act 1985 and charged under Section 17 of NDPS Act 1985. A case has been registered in this regard.
The personnel will continue to maintain strict vigil at the entry points to curb the inflow of banned and prohibited substances.
In a separate case, Police spokesperson Shouka Kakheto informed that Dimapur police along with personnel of Nagaland Armed Police (Indian Reserve Battalion), while conducting checking at Signal Bosti area of Dimapur, apprehended one person identified as Prasenjit Nandi on April 20.
A case in this regard is under investigation at Sub-Urban police station. (UNI)
