Dorbar ostracizes WKH villager

SHILLONG: A villager from Umsaw, Myriaw Syirmship, West Khasi Hills District, has been allegedly ostracized and fined, compelling him to file an FIR with the police.

As per the FIR filed by Maksing Wahlang recently, he was ostracized from his village by an order dated October 30, 2012 passed by P. Lyngkhoi, Sordar, Shnong Umsaw.
The victim complained that the Sordar had brought false allegation against him that he was practicing witchcraft.
The police complaint said that the Dorbar had threatened him and his family with dire consequences which compelled him to move out of the village.
The FIR also said that the village authorities had imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000 on him and had even prevented his wife and children from meeting him.
The villager said he was living under the threat of being murdered which forced him go into hiding since October 30, 2012.
He sought action from the police against the Sordar and also sought protection to stay in his house.
