Kohima: There are only 25 pediatricians for 6 lakh children in the state, said Dr M Kithan, Additional Director of the Nagaland Health & Family Welfare. According to a statement on Sunday, Dr Kithan at the 5th Annual Conference of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Nagaland State Branch at Dimapur said the children-doctor ration in the state is 30,000:1.
He pointed out that the inability of children to properly communicate about their health problems demands that the doctors be patient with them by showing humility, compassion, love and concern while exhibiting competence in their profession. IAP Nagaland president Dr Tokuho L Chishi said the IAP has achieved a lot from embracing technology for its office work thereby increasing coordination, time usage and cutting down expenditures. During the programme, Dr Mridu Plaban Bora, MD (Peds) Fellow Pediatric Nephrology, Consultant Pediatrician, Pratiksha Hospital, Guwahati also spoke on Recurrent. (UNI)
