Nagaland practitioners asked to get themselves registered
Kohima: The Nagaland Medical Council has asked visiting medical practitioners to the state to register with them to hold medical or free health camp here. According to a statement issued by the Nagaland Medical Council today Under section 16 (6) of the Nagaland Medical Council Act 2014, any person servicing or practicing modern scientific system of medicine in Nagaland shall be registered with the Council. Without registration with the Council any person though qualified in modern scientific system of medicine shall be liable for action as specified by the council, it said. While stating that any free service provided to the patients of Nagaland must be appreciated, Dr Kevilhulie Meyase, the Deputy Registrar of the Nagaland Medical Council, however, warned everyone not to be duped by some unscrupulous fringe elements. For a long time practice of modern medicine in Nagaland had been without rules and regulation and there was widespread malpractices in the medical profession, the deputy registrar stated. Recently, Nagaland Medical Council was constituted as a Statutory Body. It has now started functioning in right earnest and attempts are being made to implement the rules and regulations of the Medical Council of India, Code of (Professional conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulation, 2006, it added. CoSAAP demands enhancement of retirement age
Itanagar: The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has appealed the government to consider its genuine demands including enhancement of retirement age from present 58 to 60 years. This was decided in the central executive committee meeting of CoSAAP held here on Saturday. It resolved that government should withdraw its order requiring producing of NOC for promotion and retirements matters, according to association sources on Sunday. Opposing constitution of State Pay Commission, the CoSAAP in its meeting decided to urge the state government to review its order which stipulates compulsory minimum graduates to qualify for promotions to group ‘B’ & ‘A’ posts. Other demands include restoration of lateral entry system in Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service entry grade as per original system, grant of transport and children education allowances and release of 6 per cent DA & DR due from January 1, 2015. Assam rifles nabs NSCN-K cadre
Kohima: Troops of 31 Assam Rifles have apprehended one NSCN (K) cadre and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession in Longleng Town. According to a statement issued by Inspector General of Assam rifles (North) this morning, on specific input, a team swung into action and cordoned off the area at 0330 hrs on May 12. The personnel arrested one self styled Sergeant Major Kamting Phom of NSCN(K) while raiding a house and recovered arms and ammunition and narcotics from inside the house. The apprehended cadre was handed over to Longleng police station. In a separate operation, the troops apprehended two persons with arms and ammunition from a coal mine near Tuli. Two arrested were identified as MorenbaImsung and Imtienba and had been handed over to Tuli Police Station. (UNI)
Nagaland ‘transit point’ of drugs smuggling: Excise Commissioner
Kohima: Nagaland Commissioner of Excise Maongwati Aier said the state has become a transit point as drug traffickers use the route to smuggle drugs to other countries, including Europe. Addressing a drug destruction programme of seized liquor by Excise Narcotic cell at Dimapur on Saturday, Mr Aier said drug traffickers smuggle narcotic substances from Myanmar through Pangsha, a village in Tuensang and Longwa, Mon. He lamented that many are getting involved in smuggling of drugs. Mr Aier stated that drugs were smuggled from Nagaland to Burma, after which local drugs were made. He, however, said that state narcotic cell has geared up and are keeping a hawk-eye vigil to crackdown on such illegal activities. Lauding the herculean task of the Excise personnel, in their fight to curb the flow of illegal liquor in the state, Aier said that during the four years, from 2009 till date, the Excise department has registered more than 7000 cases. He said that the Department within a period of four years arrested around 10,000 persons, smugglers, and business community indulged in selling liquor. Mr Aier also said that as per reports from his superintendents and various NGOs, the open sale of liquor in five districts — Tuensang, Mon, Zunheboto, Longleng and Peren — have reduced. (UNI)
Central officials inspect MGNREGA projects in Dimapur
Kohima: Two officials from the Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) are on a tour to Nagaland for inspection of various MGNREGA projects under Dimapur district. Official sources on Sunday said the MoRD officials – Dr Silpa Pandey, Research Officer UNDP, in-charge Nagaland MGNREGA and Prasana V Salian, Assistant Commissioner, MGNREGA – are on an official visit to the state inspecting various MGNREGA schemes. Dr Shilpa along with officials of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) of Dimapur visited the RD Block of Dhansiripar and RD Block of Chumukedima yesterday. They also visited Diezephe and Indisen villages under Dimapur district and interacted with MGNREGA job-card holders, inspected the master roll, highlighted to the villagers about MGNREGA and discussed about schemes implemented by VDBs during 2013-14 and 2014-15. Prasana visited Aoyimti village yesterday and checked job cards, master roll and employment register besides others. (UNI)
