Dumping of expired medicines worth Rs 4.15 crore

SHILLONG: The panel headed by K.W. Marbaniang, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department probing the dumping of Rs. 4.25 crore worth of expired medicines, has submitted its report.
Confirming the same, Marbaniang on Sunday said the report has been submitted to the higher authorities.
He, however, refused to divulge the findings of the committee.
It may be mentioned that expired medicines worth Rs. 4.25 crore procured under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was dumped.
After the matter was reported, on February 12, Health Minister A.L. Hek had constituted a probe and given one month to the fact finding team to probe the ‘scam’.
Later in the middle of April, the probe panel headed by Marbaniang, sought one more month for completion of the probe.
