Drivers kidnapped in South Garo Hills

SHILLONG: Two drivers from Mankachar in Assam were kidnapped by armed miscreants in South Garo Hills on Saturday.
Police said that a group of armed men kidnapped the drivers identified as Bilu Miah and Akidul Islam from a village under Chokpot in South Garo Hills at early morning on Saturday.
The drivers hailed from Kuchnimara area under Mankachar police Station.
The kidnapping comes a week after the body of one Ismail Ali (22) from Jawdanga area of Mankachar in Assam’s Dhubri district was found outskirts of Tura.
The relatives of Ali, who was kidnapped by a criminal gang on July 28, had even paid ransom for his release, but in vain. After the incident, tension had gripped Mankachar.
