SHILLONG: The UDP Youth Wing has expressed amusement at the HSPDP retort, saying that it had no bearing on the issues in question but was only intended to portray UDP working president and chief adviser of the Youth Wing, Paul Lyngdoh, in bad light.
“If the UDP has no problems of open heartedly inducting Paul Lyngdoh into the party’s fold, of which he is now an asset, what relevance has the current issue of HSPDP’s backtracking related to Paul’s past,” UDP youth wing joint secretary J. Khymdeit said.
Khymdeit said people should recall that the untimely fall of the MPA Government in 2009 began when HSPDP had decided to put up its own candidate for the Umroi by-elections, after the demise of E.K. Mawlong, resulting in the victory of the Congress and consolidation of its power in the Assembly.
“We take reservation to such malicious attempts aimed at demeaning of character which we again reiterate has no relevance whatsoever,” Khymdeit said.
