Unitarian Anniversary
Unitarian Church, Madan Laban, will celebrate the 128th anniversary of the birth of Khasi Unitarianism on September 18 with a day-long programme which will include morning prayers at 9 am, a worship service at 2 pm, sports for children at 4 pm and a torch procession at 5.30 pm. Religious heads of different denominations will attend in candle lighting. The theme of the celebration is ‘Religious Tolerance and Liberalism – the Need of the Hour’.
Workshop on martial arts
Gitanjali Dance Academy is organizing a workshop on martial arts by eminent dancer Kajal Hazara till September 19 at the academy. The finale will be held on September 19 at Lady Keane College at 5.15 pm.
Clarification
The Janmashtami Utsav Committee, Meghalaya Hindu Mission, Shillong, has clarified that the Raslila on September 5 was performed by Bishnupriya-Manipuri artists of Shillong and not from Manipur.
Raffle draw
The raffle draw of the All Shillong Mahila Samity was held on September 16 at Gorkha Durga Mandir. The first prize went to ticket no. 0150, second prize to 2995 and third prize went to 2188. Consolation prizes were won by 2303, 0305, 3109, 1662 and 2009. Winners may collect their prize from the office of the Samity at Upper Mawprem, Shillong.
Local holiday
The East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has declared holiday on September 18 on account of Unitarian Anniversary Day. All district offices, magisterial courts and educational institutions in the district shall remain closed on the day.
Annual function
Srijani, a socio cultural woman’s organization, will hold its annual function at U Soso Tham Auditorium on September 19 at 5:30 pm. Home Minister Roshan Warjri will be the chief guest.
