Job racket: Women held

SHILLONG: The City Police has arrested three women for allegedly running a job racket in Shillong.
SP City, Vivek Syiem said that a complaint in this regard was received from one Airis Kharbuli and Fadris Kharbuli who on Wednesday accused the woman, Reshma Mawthoh of offering jobs to people in Central Government offices on payment if Rs 30,000. Following the complaint, a trap was laid by the Special Cell of the city police, which, with the help of the North Eastern Regional Domestic Workers Movement apprehended Reshma Mawthoh (28) of Pynthorumkhrah, Durga Thapa (64) and Lakshmi Chetri (24), both from Umkdait. The three were arrested from the house of Durga Thapa.
A large number of applications along with copies of relevant documents were seized from their possession.
Two separate cases were registered in this connection even has police is not ruling out the involvement of more people in this “scam”.
