MLAs urged to raise Lokayukta matter in House

SHILLONG: The Campaign for an Independent Lokayukta in Meghalaya comprising of several civil society groups including TUR, KSU, HNYF, FKJGP, GSU, KWADA, AJYWO, Maitshaphrang Movement, Meghalaya Right to Information Movement, Lympung Ki Seng Kynthei and others have urged the legislators to raise the issue of immediate setting up of the Lokayukta in the ongoing Assembly session to tackle rampant corruption in Meghalaya.
The Campaign said that glaring cases of corruption have been unearthed in the State, prominent among them being the Education ‘white ink’ scam, the NRHM medicine procurement scam, PWD road and bridge making scams, New Shillong Township scam and others.
