SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) refuted the allegations of Besterfield N Sangma that he was refused the party ticket on the direction of the Chief Minister.
In a statement issued here on Monday, the MPYC said that Besterfield N Sangma was given the party ticket during the last Assembly elections in which he did not fare well.
“His present antics of exiting the party and making false allegations only show that he is only interested in self gain. Dragging the Chief Minister’s name in such issues is uncalled for and in bad taste and shows the true colours of an opportunist,” the MPYC said.
“I, myself being from Babelapara, and active in the activities of the area, know the pulse of the people. The people of Babelapara constituency trust the Congrss party to field the right candidate. The present candidate is also trusted by the people of the constituency to be capable to represent the people in GHADC, maybe even more so than the previous representative.”
