SHILLONG: The Samaritan Action for Social Transformation (SAST) organised a one day workshop at PCI hall, Lachaumiere, on Aadhar, NPR and its implications.
Representatives from the Government, NGO’s, Churches and those from civil society among other attende the workshop. In the workshop, papers from the different resource persons were presented on Aadhaar and queries were being answered in context of the recent Supreme Court judgement on Aadhaar which ordered that Aadhar should not be made mandatory for government schemes.
At the end of the workshop it was decided that a committee consisting of members from KSU, TUR, CASA, PCI, and others will be formed to discuss and research on the effect and impact of Aadhaar in the state as the workshop could not reach any conclusion. The working committee shall then act on its findings and create awareness among people as to what Aadhaar card implies and the need for it.
