Guwahati: Two separate operations conducted by Assam Rifles in Dimapur in Nagaland have given credence to allegations that cadres of the Naga rebel groups show scant respect to ground rules of ceasefire with Government of India and thereby imperil life and pose threat to peace in troubled Nagaland.
In one of the operations, a cadre of the NSCN-IM which recently signed Peace Accord (rather framework of peace accord) with Government of India, was apprehended carrying weapon outside the group’s truce-time designated camp in sharp violation of ceasefire agreement.

The operation was launched based on specific information regarding presence of the armed cadre and his indulgence in extortion/ arms peddling activities in the area of Purana Bazar.
During the operation, house of the cadre was searched, which led to recovery of one Point 38 Colt Revolver. The apprehended NSCN (IM) cadre was identified as Awang Wangsu (28 years) alias Rajapeyu of NSCN (IM), a resident of Unity colony, Purana Bazar – B, Dimapur.
The apprehended cadre along with recovered weapon was handed over to the Dimapur East Police Station. In another operation Assam Rifles troops in coordination with Nagaland Police personnel busted a drug trafficking module operating from Athibung town in Nagaland.
