Ri Bhoi teacher wins National Award

NONGPOH:  A teacher of Ri Bhoi Presbyterian Higher Secondary School Lukhumai Rani was conferred with a National Award by President Pranab Mukherjee on September 5.
The prestigious award was conferred to Lukhimai Rani, an assistant teacher of Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh at the National Teacher awards distribution ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan. The award was distributed in the presence of Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Smriti Irani and other government officials of India.
It may be mentioned that in her 30-year-long journey of providing education to students, Rani who is an assistant teacher and also the District Secretary of Bharat Scouts and Guides had been conferred with the District Teacher Award in 1998, Medal of Merit in 2001, State Teachers Award and also Jamboree Award were bestowed upon her by the President of India.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Higher Secondary School Principal, Wosly Radu said that the School was very happy to know that a teacher from their school was also selected for National Award.
“Receiving National Award was not only a pride to the school but this has also encouraged other teachers to extend their good services to promote quality education among the school children” Radu said.
