SHILLONG: A conglomerate of five Jaintia Hills based organisations – MPUF, JSM, RJYF, HANM and HNYF – have expressed concern over the failure of the State Government to come out with the actual findings of the police firing incident at Mookhep in East Jaintia Hills on September 24 last year which led to the loss of two innocent life.
“Even after one year, the State Government is yet to make public the magisterial inquiry report on the incident. We had also demanded    for a CBI inquiry into the matter but the government has been silent on the same,” the five organisations said in a joint statement issued on Monday.
They further stated that the State Government should speed up the exercise to ensure that the truth comes out and the people who were responsible for the loss of two lives are punished.
It may be mentioned that the one-man inquiry commission of D.P. Wahlang has sought additional time from the State Government to complete the probe into the Mookhep firing incident. The earlier deadline to submit the report was September 24.
Earlier, the State Government had rejected the magisterial inquiry report of East Jaintia Hills Addl. Deputy Commissioner S.S. Syiemlieh who had been entrusted with the task of investigating the cause of the incident.
