Zero littering zone declared
The SDO (C), Sohra Civil Sub Division, Sohra has declared the route from Duwan Singh Syiem Bridge, Mawkdok, till Mawlong village via Mawmluh and Mawsmai as ‘Zero Littering Zone’. Anyone found littering is liable to be taxed by the local Durbars and tourist spots management authorities of Sohra with effect from October 2. A mass massive cleaning drive will be organised on October 2 from 10 am involving community participation from Mawkdok to Mawlong village.
No Entry
The Urban Affairs Department will conduct a special cleaning drive on the stretch of the road from PGT/Shillong Commerce College up to B.K. Bajoria School on October 2 from 7:30 am. In this connection the said road has been declared as ‘No Entry’ from 7:30 am till the end of the cleaning drive.
Hindi fortnight
The North Eastern Council, Shillong, observed the Hindi Fortnight from September 14 at NEC, Shillong with various programmes like essay competition, noting and drafting, letter writing, workshops and singing competition. The Hindi Fortnight concluded on September 28 in the presence Secretary, NEC, and officers and staff.
NEHU prog
The Department of Zoology, NEHU, is organizing the 3rd SERB School Avian Biology 2015 from September 27 till October 11 at the seminar hall of the department on the NEHU campus.
School concert
Seven Set Hr. Sec. School will stage a concert on September 30 and October 1 at U Soso Tham Auditorium at 4.30 pm.
Clarification
The Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress has clarified that the flag which was seen touching the ground during the marathon organised in Shillong to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was a party flag and not the Indian National Flag.
Results
Metallica-Sargam Sports & Cultural Club, Shillong, has informed that the results of the 14th Annual Inter-School cultural competitions held in July and August has been announced and submitted to the respective schools for the information of all concerned.
