Shimla: The opposition BJP on Saturday claimed that the Congress government in Himachal was shaky after the CBI filed a disproportionate assets case against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
The Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that some Congress legislators, who were against the leadership of Singh, were now in touch with it. “I can’t give you names as it would be politically incorrect. But a sizeable number of Congress MLAs are in touch with the BJP. The party is meeting on October 5 in Shimla to discuss the future course of action in the wake of developments involving the chief minister,” BJP legislator Randhir Sharma told reporters here.
He said Virbhadra Singh has not shown the morality to resign even after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out raids at his residences.
“Had Singh been clean, he would have resigned immediately for an impartial probe into the charges against him. But he wants to influence the CBI investigation by occupying the top chair in the state,” Sharma said.
He said it was ridiculous that the entire government was trying to save him. Sharma said it was a matter of shame for the entire state as a person who is facing corruption allegations is still continuing as the chief minister. (IANS)
