SHILLONG: More than 10 days after the State Assembly passed the amendment Bill barring MLAs from holding the post of MDCs, the Bill remains stuck with Advocate General K.S. Kynjing.
It was on September 24 that the Bill was passed by the Assembly and subsequently sent to the Governor.
An official source said on Monday that after the Bill was    sent to the Governor, he had returned it to the advocate general seeking his legal opinion on whether the Assembly was competent enough to pass the Bill.
Another query was whether the Bill barring the MLAs from holding the post of MDCs was constitutionally valid.
“The advocate general is still examining the matter before sending the Bill back to the Governor,” the official added.
