SHILLONG: Two State police officers, Inspector B K Mishra, OC Laban PS and SI Swaraj Thapa of DCRB Shillong have been selected by the UN SAAT team, DPKO (Department of Peacekeeping Operations) for deployment in UN Peacekeeping Mission in Haiti, South Sudan, Liberia, Cyprus and Afghanistan.
The UN SAAT team, DPKO had visited India in September to pick officers for the UN Peacekeeping Mission.
A total of 173 Police Officers from the country made the cut after clearing various tests which included road test, firing etc. The selection process, which meets international standards, is one of the toughest for in-service police officers. The deployment of the police officers is likely to start by November. Officers of Meghalaya Police have done well in UN SAAT and like previous years, this time too Meghalaya is the only state to record cent per cent selection. Inspector B K Mishra has already represented the country in UN Mission in South Sudan and this will be his second stint.
