New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday  met Nagaland Governor P B Acharya and discussed the establishment of ‘North East India Support Cell and Monitoring Committee’, announced by the AAP government in August. Kejriwal, who met Acharya at Nagaland House here, discussed various matters pertaining to the committee including membership.
In August, Delhi Government had announced that it would form a body to handle issues confronting people from the north eastern states residing in the national capital and for their “better resolution”.
The move had come after Kejriwal met a delegation of people from the northeast.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland Governor, while interacting with student community leaders and scholars hailing from Nagaland, said that he extends full support to the Delhi Chief Minister on his desire to have a North-East cell to help the people from the region living in Delhi.
“Today, I met Chief minister Kejriwal and congratulated him for having such a viewpoint. I gave him a few suggestions on my part.
I also requested Delhi CM that whenever he’ll implement his idea. We will give him some representatives from Nagaland to be members of the cell. It will be a 25-odd member cell, out of which probably four from Nagaland will get to be members,” the Nagaland Governor said here.
Terming the Naga Peace Accord as a ‘master stroke’ by the central government, the Governor said, “Our Prime Minister is very clear that till the time North East grows, India can’t develop. I am very confident of other insurgency groups too joining the peace accord. Because unlike before there is no space for trust deficit this time.” (PTI)
