UDALGURI: The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) observed the 29th Anniversary at an NDFB designated camp at Sonai near Udalguri town on Saturday. During the anniversary programme the NDFB Supremo, Ranjan Daimari informed that since 1986, around 3000 NDFB soilders were killed and many were taken away from their home without trace leaving behind their wives as widows and their children as orphan besides many parents as childless.
Tenth of thousands of Bodo communities with special guest including an MLA, Advocates, Intellectuals, Social Activists and former militants leaders of the ULFA and cadres of the outfits who are in an initiative peace talk with the Union Government for fulfillment of their various demands including a separate Bodoland.
The NDFB Supremo who addressed the crowd for about 3 hours said, ”We participated in several rounds of talk with central government in the last ten years, but no solution come till date”, adding, “If the Indian government repeatedly betrays the demands tabled by the NDFB then the outfit might be compelled to re-consider the ongoing peace talk”.
“The demand of separate state of Bodoland is not only for the Bodos’ but for the all round development, peace, unity and integrity of the whole communities residing in the proposed separate state of Bodoland”, Daimary said.
The daylong anniversary programme got underway with the NDFB Founder President, Ranjan Daimary who hosted the NDFB flag followed by opening session of the celebration.
During opening session, prominent personality including the President of the Bodo Women’s Justice Forum, Anjali Daimari, Retired Principal Secretary Assam Government, JI Kathar (IAS) who is also President of the Assam ST/SC and Dr. Morning Star Sumer- an Intellectual and social activist from Meghalaya who was among other speakers said, “The problems in Bodoland is not a religious issue. It is a fight for the land and land rights is based on which politics is built. Without land rights there can be no country”, Sumer said who also cautioned the need of discussion of good Governance threadbare before taking a decision on a course of action to ensure good governance through the law of court not and not through the barrel of guns”.
The NDFB will have a peace talk with the Union Government on October 9.
