SHILLONG: With the rift between Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and rebel Congress member and KHADC Chief Executive Member Pynshngain N Syiem growing by the day over the hurriedly passed amendment Bill against dual posts, the Congress high command has deputed AICC general secretary in charge of Meghalaya, V. Narayanasamy, to visit the State and quell the friction.
Narayanasamy is slated to meet Syiem and other legislators when he arrives here on October 17.
The party is yet to issue any show cause notice to Syiem for his rebellion against the chief minister over the issue of the amendment Bill passed by the Assembly.
Syiem is yet to relinquish the post of MDC whereas another Congress minister cum KHADC MDC, H.D.R. Lyngdoh, had already resigned from the council.
Speaking to The Shillong Times over phone on Wednesday, Narayanasamy said he came to know about the developments from MPCC president D.D. Lapang and added that he will hold meetings with Syiem and other concerned legislators during his visit to Shillong.
The AICC leader indicated that he will have separate meetings with the chief minister and the KHADC CEM and subsequently meet all the Congress legislators to iron out the differences within the CLP.
Narayanasamy, however, distanced himself from making any comments on the issue of the amendment Bill passed by the Assembly.
“I cannot comment anything which is decided by the Assembly and moreover, it is not right for me to make comments on the Bill since it involves legal issues,” he added.
Syiem had openly revolted against the chief minister by saying that he was not happy with his style and functioning since the chief minister never bothered to consult either the CLP or the MUA-II coalition partners before tabling the Bill in the Assembly.
According to Syiem, it would have been ideal on the part of the chief minister to consult him before introducing the dual post Bill in the Assembly since he was holding the post of chief executive member of the KHADC.
