SHILLONG: The New Umtru Hydroelectric project is likely to be commissioned in October-November next year.
Officials informed that 90 per cent of the civil works for the project has been completed and presently the mechanical work was underway.
It may be mentioned that the foundation stone for the 40 MW Umtru project was laid in 2007 by the then Chief Minister D.D. Lapang.
Once commissioned, the Umtru project would add 40 MW of power into the State’s kitty.
